Chapter 2
The next morning I woke up feeling tired and worst than usually. Swollen feet, aching back, I was up all night long treating people who thought they had the flu. I knew I had to get up and go to work, I lived alone for now and somebody has to pay the rent. And right now, it's me. Just as I was about to get up the phone rang. "Hello?", "ohh thank goodness I caught you before you left. Listen jasmine, I know you really need this job to keep your rent up but you've been working yourself crazy down here at this clinic. You’re pregnant and I think you should really take the day off, stay home and get some rest I’m working on finding you a replacement for the day right know"."Ms. Jones you really don’t have to do that I’m sure I’ll be fine. I- "Jasmine, your baby is coming very soon. You’re due n 3 weeks. Now I may sound like your grandmother for a second but your little tail needs to sit down and relax for a while. Your grandmother and I are both members of the juvenile church, we could easily help you pay your rent until you have this baby and you’re capable of coming back to work". Ms. Jones was right. I’ve been working so hard these past couple of months and I did need a break. "Yes ma'am" as I hung up the phone. well, since I’m going to be out of work I think I should go to the mall and look for some cloths and little baby shoes and toys for Jeremiah. Rubbing my belly, I thought about what my life would be like when I have Jeremiah. Who is going to watch him while I’m at work and school? That means um not going to be able to see him during the day. Off to the mall I go.
Walking to the bus stop something hit me; I was going to be a parent soon. Suddenly I started to feel kinds scared. I was going to the mall to find cloths for MY BABY. A BABY that was going to be my responsibility. A BABY that I needed to take care after and watch after until he gets old enough to watch himself. While I was day dreaming I hadn’t realized that the bus had come. It was my mom’s old friend Ronnie. He was always so nice to me. "Hey jasmine, look at you looking all pretty baby girl. You going to work today?".”Nahh, my baby due soon so they gave me a couple of days off. I figured I would due a little shopping for myself before the baby shower tomorrow, so I’m headed to the mall." Of course he was going to let me on the bus free because I was pregnant. But also a friend of the family's. He started telling me all about his family and how they talk about me whenever they have a family get together. At that moment, I felt so special, more people care for me then I thought. I thought no-one cared about at all. But I guess I was wrong.
After leaving Ronnie, I felt like a new person. The first store I went into was baby gap. The cloths there were so tiny, and cute. There was this little hat and gloves set for 2 dollars. It was blue, white and yellow my favorite colors, of course had to buy it. I found him a shirt some pants and a little jacket to go with it. I couldn’t wait to see him in his little outfit that his mommy brought for him went to foot locker and found him 3 pairs of Jordan’s and two pairs of air forces. “Mommy got to make sure her baby look good”. A few hours later, I was beat. I did so much shopping for my baby people were offering to hold my bags while I waited for the bus. A good friend of mine from the second grade gave me a ride home. You know it’s really funny when you see people that you haven’t seen in years in the weirdest places. Its been so long since I seen her, she didn’t even know I was pregnant. We got to my house and she carried all my bags up the stairs. She really got strong over the years. I remember in second grade she was so skinny and weak, everyone used to make fun of her. I was her best friend so you know I backed her up. She had to go to work so I told her to swing by the baby shower tomorrow when she gets a chance. I started to put the baby cloths away when someone knocked on my door. I thought it was Kennedy forgetting her car keys but it wasn’t. When I opened the door it was……MIKE!!

Journal,
Its cold. My food is almost gone, I can’t feel my hands. I lost my hat; my ears are frozen. My sisters are dying. Sasha has pneumonia, and Nastea’s lost her coat and shoes. My hair is falling out. I look at the broken down train behind us. Tree’s sleep soundlessly on top of it. I sit at a tree trunk, with you on my lap, and a scrawny pencil in my hand. Nastea sits beside Sasha, feeding her berries and herbs. I hope things get better, Journal. I hope things get better.
Bye Journal,
Nadia

I wrote this is five minutes. Not that good, I know.
It's in the point of view of a fire.
It's in a fireplace in a living room.
Hope you enjoy.
Read to the rhythym you would
'The Night Before Christmas'
I flickered and jumped
and sat on the logs
and watched as the human
kicked off his clogs.
The dog soon followed
and sat by his side
and they soon were asleep
and my flame soon died.
But a flicker did linger
and I wondered a bit.
When would be the next time
that I would be lit?

I am bored with love
and it's passionless limbs
that drape over my bed
in a lethargic state of impotence
while wearing the same red heart
my soul picked up hitchhiking
off highway serendipity
Now here we are
alone in togetherness
trying to build dreams
with two by fours and glue,
but even a home
won't tie us together
when our hearts live alone
Poetic vows cliched
into nothingness
like all words do, eventually
and we allowed our bodies to become another pair of hollow shadows that make love to a wall
instead of each other
and we wonder why
the roses are dying
and it's passionless limbs

I remember the times of the i love you's
and times when it was i hate you.
But you come back begging at me feet.
And when my pity defeated me.
and the sweet seranades, in our matching shades.
My rose collection, evidence of your effection.
The sheets unmade, from the nights you stayed.
The child in me, from the times you loved me.
The debt you owe, from using the word borrow.
The times i was scared, was the time you spared.
And this dress i wear, in which are people become aware, that you are gone, and withdrawn.
The memories i hold, they are written in bold.
my broken heart, from when you apart.
so rest now my love, up now from above.
and times when it was i hate you.
