The eggs were cooking. The bacon was sizzling. The toast was toast'n. It was a cold this morning. Not cold enough for snow yet but cold enough to want Matthew's warm hand holding mine. Me teeth just could not help but chatter. I sat down with my breakfast and coffee. I know teens don't usually drink coffee but I like it. Coffee gives me a sense of wisdom and courage. I feel mature and witty when drinking coffee. I had nothing to do on a cold Saturday like this. I finished my English essay due two weeks from now and my algebra homework was fairly easy; nothing to stress about. I guess I could relax. Maybe go back to sleep considering it three in the morning. I don't really know why I had woken up so early. I wasn't very tired...? Hmmm...I don't know.
It was eight now and I'm getting up for the second time this morning. I decided that I wanted Matt to come over and just kinda chill with me for the day. He came over around nine thirty.
For some reason he was very hesitant to kiss me and he held on a little longer than usual on our hug. Something was wrong. I let him tell me excuses and quick stories you could tell he made up on the way over here; not very thought out I might add.
"So tell me what is really going on?"
"What do you mean really going on? I wouldn't lie to you. I'm just tired from the early wake-up call, thank you very much." He was somewhat believable, but I knew there was more to it.
I looked at him with an unsatisfied face.
"Fine! I'm going away for awhile..." My heart stopped. I didn't know what to think and the fact that he "tried" to hide it from me, made me even more nervous!
"Going away..?? Where!?" I demanded.
"No where! Okayy!?"
"Oh, come on Matthew just tell me where you are going."
"No Jaz. You just wouldn't understand." Now, my eyes were burning. I always thought of the worse possible situation. And Matt knew that when he looked over ta me and saw the first tear fall.
he started to hold me.
"No,no,no I would never wanna leave you! I'm just leaving for a week."
As I wiped a tear from my face, "Where are you going though?"
He sighed deeply and thought hard.
"My mom Jaz...." I immediately looked up at him, very apologetic.
"Oh. Matt I'm sorry. I-I-I had no idea. I know you haven't seen her in like 10 years and-"
"Jaz, no need to tell me things I already know."
I just couldn't say sorry enough. Matt hadn't seen his mom in over 8 years and for him to finally see her again is a big deal and i just ruined it.
"Look, I promise I won't be gone very long. I will try to email you as much as possible. I'm actually pretty excited but scared at the same time." Matt loved his mom, he wasn't too pleased with her exit to the family but he still loved her.
Matthew's mom, Volosity Ramirez, only lived a few hours from Midland, Texas, where we lived. She lived somewhere in Beaumont, Texas. I think I had the same emotions that Matt toward reuniting with his mom.
Matt and I talked it over on the front porch and decided that yes he could go. Though I would miss a lot, I knew that was what he wanted to do. I did not want to be the reason Matt didn't get to see his mom.
"Mmmmm. I'm gonna miss you beautiful." He hugged me tightly. This was the last hug that I was going to get for a week. I would miss his tight, warm embrace.
"Hmhmmm. I'm gonna miss you too." He kissed with a hopeful and anxious smile. But even though he tried to hide it, I could see the pain of the past in his eyes, the terrified 16-year-old who longed his mom. I just hope that she is very welcoming and understanding of my Matty.
I hugged him one last time ans promised that I would pray for him as he traveled. Ugh, I was so worried about him. But I'm sure he'll be fine.
Matthew emailed me as son as he go to Beaumont. He and his dad stopped for something to eat but they were only a few minutes away from Volosity's house.

(Day 1)Jaz she's pretty! Like actually pretty. But I'm not checking out my mom. (Gross). She doesn't really look like me but she seems to somewhat understand me. I like she isn't too push about trying to get to know me. I'm comfortable here. But I miss you. I miss Midland. My dad wasn't as "polite" to my mom as I was. Maybe he'll come around.? I love you.(;

(Day 1) Well I'm glad your mom is good looking and that you aren't checking her out. Lol. I hope she stays not-to-pushy and lets you kinda get use to being around her. I bet she is as nervous as you are. And don't worry about your dad. You gotta remember to just let your dad do what he wants (he is gonna do it anyway). Just be patient and focus on one parent. I love you too!(:

Another poem by me. This one came out kinda lame, but I'll let the rating be the judge (assuming there will be any).
That Girl
Have you seen that girl,
That goes around here and there?
Nobody knows where she’s going,
Is she even going somewhere?
Pretty face, pretty hair,
Nobody knows her name,
She seems sad, what a coincidence,
I’ve been feeling the same.
She seems lost,
Doesn’t even know where she’s from,
I’m a nice guy so I invite her,
To stay in my home.
She seats in the couch,
My, is she pretty?
I wonder what I can say,
To comfort that girl , so dreamy.
Sarah,
She tells me it’s her name,
She feels sad,
Funny,
Because I’ve been feeling the same
