I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Horror Story Eyes a ‘Huge Reinvention’ — Will Jessica Lange Be a Part of It? | TVLine
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
will be “very different,” FX Networks CEO John Landgraf told TVLine Sunday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Fargo Season 2 Role, The Americans’ Future and More
(which finales on Wednesday), Landgraf deferred, “I know what it is, but I can’t [say]. I have to let [series boss] Ryan [Murphy] do his thing on that. But it’s very different.”
Landgraf went on to say of the franchise, “One of the things I love so much about that is that it can be radically, radically reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period, characters, cast.” And along those lines, “I think there’s going to be an unusually large reinvention in between Book 4 and Book 5 relative to, say, between Book 3 [
The only Season 5 clue Landgraf perhaps let slip was when asked about the show returning to the present day (as it thus far has done with odd-numbered seasons). “That’s my hope, yeah,” he answered.
RELATEDAmerican Horror Story: Freak Show Recap: Better Off Dead
As for Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jessica Lange being a part of the next cycle — a while ago, she hinted in an interview that
would be her swan song — Landgraf has no information, explaining, “Ryan is really, really independent in how he makes these shows and what he does. So I know the setting, I know something about the characters and something about the tone and the time period, but I don’t actually know the cast yet.”
I hope this reinvention works because I haven’t truly enjoyed AHS since S2. I’m fully aware I’m in the minority but I HATED Coven and hoped Freak Show would make me forget about it. It didn’t. In fact I can’t even decide which one was worse though FS has had many good episodes compared Coven.
I think I just had too many high hopes for FS. It went out the gate too soon leaving all but 1 or 2 of the best episodes behind.
I like Jessica Lange but it’s time for her too go or not be the main focus of the season. Besides, I don’t think she could ever one up her performance as Sister Jude.
You are not at all in the minority of those who hated Coven. Angela Bassett was utterly fantastic, but that season was a trainwreck.
Coven was dreadful . Asylum is forever the best of AHS . . This season was just as mediocre as the last one. The beautiful cinematography couldn’t save it .
Yes, Asylum is the best, don’t understand how people can’t see that
True. Asylum was very mediocre because of too many subplots which led to ineffective development of story lines. At the end, it was very anti-climatic. I felt it was very bad writing. I laughed at the Angel of Death…it wasn’t horror at all.
Yes Asylum was by far the worst ancient storyline and no story no what’s going to happen next not a character to root for or care about just sex and gore normally ok when there’s some semblance of a story And while totally predictable and so close to being really good but not was Coven which was so much better than Asylum .At least there was great humor and irony with Precious having Kathy Bates head forced to watch the civil rights movement totally hilarious down to the head through the hole in the table trick (pretty bad) Freakshow is so much greater than i anticipated just wonderful .Please keep this quality show going and the wonderful actors along with it. and push at award time for your show and well deserving actors. push for a horror show category and even a sci fi category there’s than enough shows to warrant a category and tough competition too as The WEalking Dead is amazing and I mean acting award winning or not
I liked Coven the best. I thought Asylum had too many subplots going on, and it made the overall season very mediocre because story lines could not be effectively developed.
Asylum was horrible, good God i regret what i did see.
Yep, Asylum was gorgeous, heartbreaking television and Coven was self-indulgent pablum with some of the worst plotting I’ve seen in a long time.
I disagree totally. Asylum was a giant mess..and seriously Aliens? The only good part was Jessica Lange. I truly enjoyed Coven and the fight for power. I am sorry they cannot secure Jessica, they might as well wrap it up. Angela and Kathy Bates are also good reasons to watch, but I really enjoy Jessica and her characters.
I’m so glad to hear others felt Coven was a disaster. I often find I’m alone when I say it was by far the weakest season in virtually every aspect.
Anyway, I’m really hoping S5 takes place in the future- as that’s one time period we have yet to see on AHSand one that people constantly forget when discussing new themes. AHS set briefly in a future where… Cyborgs or robots are a threat is something I would love to see.
That will never happen…cyborgs and robots…that’s silly…its called American Horror Story…not American Sci Fi Story
Actually my favorite season goes all the way back to s1. Coven was horrible and if it weren’t for Dandy Mott this season would be a bust. And I love Jessica Lange but I’m very tired of her.
I have to agree, though I actually do dislike Freak Show more than Coven! The show needs a SERIOUS reinvention, not just more of the throw everything at the wall and see what sticks mentality that it’s been showing!
Well the general consensus is that season 2 asylum was the best , season 1 was oke dokey . season 3 mediocre and season 4 is basically an insult .
Like others said Jessica is a fantastic actress but this was one season “too many” . Murphy doesn’t need to coerce her into playing the same role with a different dress once more next season .
Your comment lost all credibility simply by saying Jessica Lange has to go, but will definitely not leave this site with one article comment degrading Coven! Well I HATED season 2. Why? Psychological season 1 horror was pushed aside being obvious horror blood and gore horror; a stereotypical serial killer than skins people, and a dull, boring, all black walled asylum with a huge focus on Christianity (a self-righteous arrogant fantasy ridden religion based on guilt shame and societal control as they wave and read verses from their Walt Disney book. There was too much of it! Not to mention the lack of powerful characters, the amazing front runners Jessica and Lily playing these bible thumpers covered up in ugly nunnery, applaud Evan and Sarahs efforts but S2 DEF came up short. Connie Britton not coming back, no Alexandra (the maid), no Taissa. (2 MAIN characters from the Harmon family not returning. Excuse me?) No Jamie Brewer (the lovely downs girl horrah for her making it to S4, Marjorie the puppet, amazing!) I finally gasped for air previously suffocating when Frances Conroy returned for S2. but how but minimal were her appearances!? BOO. Some of the new actors, dont get me started, that sex addict (horrible acting) and that dull overrated French Girl! Where did they find Alma, off the streets?! That girl had no personality and could not act. People hated the aliens but I would RATHER they tapped more on that than an annoying song on a record player, and people playing with bread dough. Season 3 brought to life everything I thought was gone with American Horror. The lively-ness of the city, the freshness of modern day, true deep rooted struggles, aging, loosing looks, being alone (I found the darkness of Fiona lost roaming the dark hospital and sulking around in the mansion alone with cancer so comforting and relatable) , major characters from S1 returned And the introduction of Emma Roberts Gabourey, ANGELA BASET AND KATHY BATES… are you KIDDING ME!? Do you know why S3 was so hated? The stigma of caring about your looks, not wanting children, being a Wiccan who worships earth not a Disney Book, and 13 episodes show casing powerful WOMEN. Sorry if one man couldn’t function and the other had his tongue cut out. A prideful, hot, Wiccan American Woman. The epitome of AMAZING! Yes it was campy but so was season 1, the season that set the tone and started it all and 80% of that was brought back to life in S3. So those who began at S2 SIT DOWN You don’t know what show you are watching.
You rant sounds like the babblings of a lunatic in gender studies. Go back to tumblr.
And your reply is simplistic and ignorant. Oceans made valid comments and all you could do is resort to name calling.
Oceans claims the entire reason people disliked Coven was due to sexism (not directly, but let’s not dance around it), which is lunacy. The main reason many did not care for it is because the characters were horribly unlikable. How’s that for “simplistic”
Their “valid” comments actually started the name calling.
I totally agree with you oceans. What are your thoughts on S4
Hate to break it to everyone, but no one cares what your favorite and least favorite season was. This article is about season 5, not an informal poll about seasons 1-4.
Yeah…. You don’t lose credibility simply by wishing for something new. And there is absolutely no need to rant against those who just happen to have different opinions than you. We’re all watching the same show here, people just like different things. There’s nothing wrong with that.
How can you refer to the greatest book ever written & most read in the world , as a Disney book., Yet you applaud & refer to them as prideful, hot , wiccan American women , ( sounds to me you have trouble w/ staying in reality) , they were cold , cruel , crazy women .( for the most part ) this is make believe . Not True stories , that is why Ryan Murphey is the rich , famous writer & not you.
Actually, it sucked because there was no real tension, the plot was weak, and the stakes were low. Things were extremely predictable and the best character met the worst fate. It had a lot of wasted potential.
It wouldn’t be AHS without Jessica…she is the glue that holds it all togather
Well, the first season looks totally different than the current season. Freak Show is by far the weakest, followed by Coven. Ryan Murphy is terrible at continuous success.
I agree! I stopped watching Ryan Murphy shows because he just can’t be consistent with great story telling. (ie. Popular, Nip/Tuck and Glee) I couldn’t let myself watch AHS because of this, seems like I was smart to skip it all.
I feel like something American Horror Story needs to address is the episode count, because I feel the last 3 seasons burned out over 13 episodes, and the story’s are stretched way to thin, and how many times have we all complained that the season started off strong only to go off the rails. A show like Fargo managed 10 episodes very well, thus10 episodes would be much better for American Horror Story to work with.
A miniseries would have been better to switch things up a bit in the whole franchise , 10 episodes’s okay but 5 is even better . I don’t think this format stretched the story lines thin. Those were not consistent in the first place , they put me to sleep . This season ,just like last a character would disappear for 2 episodes and then appear like “that” in the 3rd and nobody cared , to me the story line went nowhere . The stunt castings are annoying as hell . ugh! this needs to stop.
I couldn’t have said it better myself! A 10-ep season would force tighter storytelling.
I agree, a 10-episode season would work in the show’s favor. While MURDER HOUSE and ASYLUM had generally well-paced season arcs, the more recent COVEN and FREAK SHOW too often felt like they were being made up as they went along. A shorter would tighten up the storytelling.
I’m starting to wonder if Ryam Murphy is simply getting bored with AHS, the only one I havent been able to get into is Freak Show and as for Jessica Lange were as I do enjoy her I am more interested in some other actors returning.
I hope not. Jessica Lange is an amazing actress. She has played her parts very well in AHS. Ryan Murphy was spot on choosing Jessica. She is very versatile actress.
They actually mean Ryan Murphy, who is the showrunner. But as far as Jessica Lange goes, there’s no question she’s an amazing performer but I also think I’d be okay with some fresh blood too.
I hope that when they return next season they would go back to the murder house .American Horror story the beginning.
My favorite season was Coven because it was funny and scary at the same time. Asylum was awful for me but it is due to the lightning and general ambiance. We all have our preferences but I cannot fully enjoy a show set in the 50s or the 60s so that’s the reason I prefer present-time settings (like season 1 and 3)
It’s nice to see someone actually saying Coven was their favorite!
I loved Coven. It is probably my favorite followed by Season 1.
That makes sense. I’m the opposite, I prefer the darker shows and love when they’re set in the past. Although I did enjoy season 1. But you’re right, we all have our preferences :)
If Lange took a backseat in season 5 in favor of Bates, Paulson, Bassett, Conroy, or Winningham, I wouldn’t be that upset. They’ve just drop the ball on writing good characters for her and the wow factor is diminishing. I don’t expect S5 to be radically different though. Ryan Murphy is always going to have a restraint problem and I doubt someone is going to rein him in anytime soon. Freak Show overall has been average and the insistence on throwing in character after character to spur on plot development instead of writing within the scope (i.e. Irma was brought in solely so we could see how much of a mess Jimmy was after his mother died, they had sex, emma roberts got a snipe in about it, and now Irma is just in the backgroud) already created was just lazy and the season suffered for it.
Jessica was suppose to take a backseat this season. That’s what Ryan said way before Freak Show even aired and look she’s at the forefront not that I really mind cuz she’s the queen bee of AHS. But I think just seeing her every now and again would’ve made her appearances all that more special. How can you make a series with so many dynamic actresses and give them all material enough to shine. Jessica was obviously first priority I mean she was the dang on proprietor of the Freak Show. Bates, Conroy & Bassett definitely suffered this season. Paulson however has been getting fantastic material this season as oppose to the, for the most part, meek character she played last. Is there a such thing as having too much star power?! But what about the men (I have a feeling it’s part of the reason so many dislike Coven) they need to switch out Evan Peters I’m sorry but all of his characters after Tate from Murder House have been lackluster… This got way off track I think lol but all relevant to the show though
I wouldn’t say there is a thing as having “too much star power” if the writers know when to hold back and spread the love. Freak Show spread itself too thin with the cavalcade of guest stars and new characters that everyone in the ensemble was basically fighting for b-storyline scrapes. I love a good ensemble, but if you are introducing new character after character instead of pulling from the ensemble to develop the plot in a 13 ep series, you are definitely doing something wrong. Season 5 needs to be contained, with the major characters for the most part established by episode 4, cameos kept short like Bomer’s, and none of the 2 episode guest star mess again.
The past 2 seasons I feel like too many times they came up with a character and then tried to shove them into the plot. When they should be coming up with a good coherent plot first and then building characters off of it.
I hope the next season takes place on an american space ship, in the future, or even the near-future, I think that might be the big departure they’re talking about.
Where can I find shows 1 and 2? I didn’t start watching till Coven which I loved.
Other than the fact that Ryan Murphy actually gave Evan Peters a storyline in Freakshow, the season as a whole started good but now ends with a whimper. So much potential wasted on what could have been the best season of AHS yet.
I still think Season 1 was, for me, still the best to date. Of course, I also think Asylum was beyond dark—even by AHS standards—and probably my least favorite of the four seasons to date, although Freak Show is right there along with it(and I think it went off the rails quicker than any season to date too). As for Coven, I enjoyed it quite a bit after the grim affair that was Asylum and it still ranks as my second favorite season overall.
It would probably be best for the show if Jessica Lange does sit out next season. I really like her, but there are only so many shows that can be written around characters she can play. For the show to really stretch its creative muscle and live up to its potential as an anthology series, they should cast based on a story they want to tell and not tell stories based on a cast they want.
Jessica and Kathy have to be a part of this. Also Tessa, Evan and Sara.
I’m shocked that there are so many negative comments regarding Any episodes, seasons, or cast members in AHS!!! I Dearly Love this show, Every season, Every episode, and entire cast. I’m disappointed that there are only a measly 13 episodes a year! Its dark and complex. The characters are multi-dementional, imperfect- both as villains and ‘good guys’. This show, in my opinion anyway, is brilliant in every way, technically, artistically…the writing, the performances, the cinematography…. All of it…Brilliant!! I look forward, each October, to the macabre dreamscape I’ll get to experience each week, with anxious anticipation.
Ryan and Brad, I emplore you to keep on the path you’ve started us on. Its a fantastic adventure. My favorite on TV in fact. Thanks for the thrills. I can’t wait for more.
Sassy sunshine I agree wholeheartedly. I’m a dedicated fan of this show.
My favorite Season of AHS was Asylum, but I am enjoying this season. I did not care for last it seem like it was to driven by name actors instead of characters, and the fact no one stayed dead I think hurt it. In order my favorites go Asylum, Freak Show, Murder House, and Coven.
I wholeheartedly agree with your summation and order of favorites!
I think that show should end if Jessica Lange leaves, it’s already had a good run for a cable show.
I personally have always had a problen with Angella Bassett as an actor. She over does every thing she does..She is not much better as a director judging fron Whitney whiz was dreadful.
She is a great talented black actress….. They needed some color to “lighten” up the show. Besides Mrs. Sidibe who was killed off to early.
I hope it’s in the future like scifi horror
It’s amazing how so many comments talk about how many actors are bad acting suck and should die…u guys are nothing but a bunch of jealous losers that use the comment posting as a way to bring other people down cause your lives suck balls… JUST TALK ABOUT THE DAMNN SHOWS…and today talk bad about other people u good for nothing losers get a life lol
Man the comments in here are very weird. From the posts I’ve read, it’s pretty apparent a lot of weirdos come over here to post for some reason. Sounds like a lot of the posters here are all smoking weed cause they sure don’t make much sense. I thought Coven was great. I liked this season too but not as much as Coven. I sure hope Jessica Lange returns, she is the show. I have enjoyed watching her do all these roles in this series (as with all the others also). Shows how versatile she is. I hope all the characters return for another season. It’s fun watching to see what roles everyone is going to play.
Unpopular opinion, but I think it will be good for AHS to let go of Jessica Lange. It’s a risky move but if they do it right, I feel like it will pay off in a big way. I think one of the reasons AHS is going on a downward spiral is that Ryan relies on Jessica so much and that he feels too comfortable when she’s around, so maybe when she’s gone it will give him some sort of “push” to improve the plot next season. Besides, we still probably have Sarah Paulson (who I think is such an underrated actress), Angela Basset, and Kathy Bates. I do hope Jessica shows up for a cameo role.
It’s not that they rely a Jessica so much that was the premise of the show when it first started to use the same actors every year different story’s Jessica was always the star of the show, but I really do hope they do the scifi horror space ship theme like aliens that would be awesome
The one connection they all have is ” CRAZY KILLER DOCTORS “, who mutilate , & LOTS OF PREJUDICE . So , what or who will be their next plot. ( SLAVERY )
so I really liked season one. A lot. Asylum was sort of the beginning of the end for me. I really liked the characters, and the story (most of them). What drives me crazy about the current season and somewhat in the last couple seasons is that the show introduces all these characters/ story lines and then just drops them for something something else–never really seeing any one story through to completion. in Freak Show we started with a killer clown (which was awesome) and the story was killed before much development, then the show introduces Dandy, another amazing character, and his story develops only long enough to see him as a great villain, then another story gets started and not finished, then another… and now we are at the end of the season and I’m just frustrated at having watched all the missed opportunities (my opinion) of what could have been a great season. Personally, i wish the show focused on fewer tangents and really developed them to the end; instead of haphazardly piecing together a a string of cliche “scary folk”. The next season will need to be very different to keep me interested.
You people are insane , first of all you have to be a genius to make up stories like the ALL THE SEASON were awesome , some of you lack personality and that’s why you hated the last two season , smh it’s sad that you couldn’t enjoy the imagination of witch in season 3 and the gory deaths happening in season 4 , open your brains and think outside the box , because that’s exactly what the author of this series does . & I can not wait for season either . I applaud you Ryan Murphy , you truly are the best :)
Honestly I hope she doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Jessica but she has pretty much played the same character after Season 2. And this was probably the one with the worst transitions. She could had been a martyr and saviour of the freaks, but instead depending on the episode she is either heartless and kills ppl, or she is mother theresa and does everything to save them. Can’t have it both ways. Usually it’s pretty obvious when the season of AHS starts going downhill, but this season has just been so boring. The clown, Dandy and ma petite were the only salvageable storylines, and ma petite didn’t even get one.
Just let Jessica do her thing and bring either Angela or Kathy to the front.
Ryan noted from the beginning that Jessica ‘s character, Elsa Mars, would have a two fold personality. Her primary love is of self, fame, fortune, etc at whatever cost. On the other hand she really does have a caring, motherly spirit toward her “monsters”. She indeed did rescue most of them from a horrible life and brought them into her family. You really CAN have it both ways and I believe her character was written very well for this juxtaposition!
I loved Coven and Murder House and I like Freakshow but mainly because of Dandy lol
My wife loves dandy. Finn is doing an outstanding job.
It makes me sick how so many of you are taking such an amazing show and tearing it apart. Yes we all have our favor parts and or seasons but you need to remember how vastly different this show is from every other show. You need to appreciate every season because when you start taking it apart and whining like spoiled brats that is when the show will die. I’ve been so excited after knowing that every season is tied together finding every thread. If you don’t enjoy the season don’t watch it but don’t sit around bitching about it. That’s all I gotta say about that.
I’m super excited to see how this reinvention plays out. I loved Coven & to be honest…Freak Show has given me some things I can’t imagine not having, like my favorite song Gods and Monsters, and Peppers’ back story. That, combined with incredible performances by Lange, Paulson, Bassett, Conroy and Wittrock, and, it seems like an excellent season. I have faith that this weeks’ finale will blow our socks off and that all of this has absolutely been worth it. I now respect Jessica’s decision to stay or go because I’m not sure how she will top this performance..,but I truly want her and Sarah to return. And…now I am confused about Season 5….how could it be Operation Top Hat if it’s a modern time frame? Perhaps we are not getting this right. Love and peace to all my AHS family out there!!! :)
I want to see Lange return but not as another ruthless sarcastic character. She should play someone complex but inherently good. I’d like to see the returning cast play against type. Make Lange someone with quiet strength who comes into her own throughout the course of the season.
I really hope Jessica Lange stays, and the writers give her a different part. I agree that she’s played essentially variations on a theme in 3 of the 4 seasons (I don’t think Sr. Jude fits neatly into the “vindictive older woman viciously trying to reclaim glory days” category). However, her body of work shows she is HIGHLY capable of playing a range of characters. IMO, it’s on the writers to give her something fresh to play, not on her to quit when she’s played the heck out of what she HAS been given.
That said, if she truly doesn’t want to do it anymore, or only wants a reduced role, that’s a respectable and understandable decision. She’s 66, and could quit acting today and still have a better career than most. No matter what her choice, I do hope that this reinvention improves AHS. I think the last few episodes of Freak Show have been better and I personally enjoy this season much more than Coven, but I feel the show has lost the force it showed in Murder House and Asylum. The narratives seem plagued by half-finished thoughts and stories that go nowhere or add little.
Both Coven and Freak Show are just low points to the show. Coven had three great first chapters but then started to get messy, the only real horror was the opening sequence and the Axeman (who was introduced a little bit late in the season.) the rest of it was just a sitcom. However, it was good for the Tumblr gifs thanks to the overuse of the terms “Bitch”, “Witch” and “Supreme”. Freak Show did also start good, but killing Twisty that soon took away a lot of the horror of the season. And the worst thing about Freak Show it’s that nothing it’s carrying the show, it’s just a lot of great scenes without a purpose. A least with Coven was all about the ‘who’s the new supreme?’ thing, but the current season it’s just nothing. Freak Show it’s just a ‘what will happen next’ without a real plot.
I really enjoy this show, and both of the topics of last and current seasons were great purposes, but failed in the developing. I just hope next season comes with a better storyline and developing.
If Jessica leaves they should focus on giving a major character to Frances Conroy, she’s just great and a little bit underrated on this show. All of her characters have been brilliant on every season.
I don’t understand how anyone who has seen every episode could possibly think any season comes even close to trumping the initial season. Asylum was ruined by aliens. Coven was mostly just gratuitous horrific torture or death over and over. And Freak Show has only two characters pulling their weight in Dandy and Elisa. I really hope they recast all the characters, perhaps someone like George Clooney, who has never ventured into TV, as the main character.
Totally agree with you that season one was the best. There were huge sixth-sense plot twists that the other seasons just didn’t match up to. And sure, characters returned as ghosts when they died, but I much preferred it to Coven, where people died and just came back to life again, with hardly any consequences. At least in season one they were limited by the house. And it was genuinely psychologically creepy too.
George Clooney would be pretty cool to have on the show. He’s been on tv quite a bit, so there’s a good chance. Not to mention they should have enough credentials now to really pull in some new celebrity faces. Still want Jessica Lange and co to stay on, but one or two new characters would be great. Maybe even as the lead.
As I was channel surfing one night, I came to a channel I watch a lot FX and show on was AHS. It had struck my interest immediately from get go. I found the cast unique specially Pepper when she met the man who looks like just like her. Not much wasn’t in the show. They got married and he died. My heart went out to Pepper still does. Kathy Bates wish she was back and rest of cast killed off. Dandy the weirdo can die off anytime he’s just disturbed! For the people don’t like AHS turn to another channel. No one forcing you to watch this great show of AHS! For those who love the show thank you appreciate the support. I remember going our State Fair in Nebraska. There was attraction called the Freak show. I wanted to see but scared in another way too. Most of the animals were born dead with two heads and it was sad to see. We’re all born different animals or humans. Thank you for a great show and a great cast. I can’t wait until the show continue next.
If AHS: Coven is better than AHS: Asyum … God guys.
You really deserve the s**t RM is launching on this show.
AHS: Asylum stays the best season so far. Find me another show where poetry, horror, best-writing and MUSIC (Guys, have you forgotten songs like “Dominique”, “You don’t own me” or “Candyman’s soundtrack”?) come together perfectly.
TVline.com here has some interesting information about American Horror Story Season 5. Beware: some of it might make you a little nervous.
I think season 5 may be about Alternate Realitys, Alternate Dimensions or time travel, maybe?
I completely agree with your summation of the show and your list of most to least favorites. I’m a diehard fan and look forward to each season. Watching for clues on each episode to the potential theme of the next season is also quite fun. I am a true fan of the horror genre and would really like an upcoming season to scare the bejeabies out of us all in EVERY episode! Just my thoughts…
AHS is incredible. All four seasons have been excellent. Personally I cannot imagine the show doing as well without Lange as she is the face of AHS to so many. She is a truly incredible actor and without her the show will feel like a puzzle missing one piece right in the centre.
Also I really hope NPH will be in season 5 & Lily Rabe
I hope jessica Lange stays she is amazing on American horror story I get excited to watch it every October jessica Lange and Sarah Pulson are my favorits in the whole seris
I really loved the first two seasons, since there were some very creepy moments in both of them. I still enjoyed Coven and Freak Show, but apart from Twisty they were really more dramatic than horror, which was a little disappointing. I hope Jessica Lange stays in it, and I hope they find a really good idea to pull off for season 5. The ideas people are giving about hints in the last episode sound really disappointing so far
Also, I didn’t like Coven as much simply because there weren’t that many twists, it was all fairly predictable. Unlike Season One, where Tate turns out to be a ghost and we finally figure out that Violet had been dead for several episodes. I know both seasons had a ‘they’re not staying dead’ mentality but Coven kinda bugged me because they came fully back to life. Like, there was no sense that this was a serious thing. At least with season one there were serious drawbacks if you died, like being stuck in the house and as you were when you died.
I can see them coming with something like Masters of Horror was. Every episode tell a totally different story. At least, that’s what came in my mind when he used the term “radically”.
