Cher Lloyd 'Splits From Record Label' After Disappointing Album Sales 

Rumours emerged late last year that Cher Lloyd had parted ways with Epic Records, and now - GOOD NEWS! - new speculation suggests that the former X Factor star is already holed up in the recording studio working on new material under a new deal.

The star, who shifted over a million copies of her breakout hit \'Want U Back\' in the US, had an army of frustrated fans when her very good second album Sorry I\'m Late suffered from poor promotion and several delays. It eventually found its way to shelves last summer, but by that point the momentum had suffered so much that it missed the Top 10 in the US and failed to crack the Top 20 in the UK, despite warm reviews.

She\'s now thought to have re-signed with Universal Music (Epic is part of rival \'giant\' Sony), and a source tells ClickMusic: "Cher\'s looking forward to a fresh start with some exciting new opportunities. She\'s been hard at work on material already and wants to put the frustrations of 2014 behind her." What\'s more, eagle-eyed followers noticed last November that, on her official merchandise store, the Epic Records logo has been replaced by one for Universal.

EntertainmentWise has reached out to the 21-year-old\'s representatives for confirmation on her exciting move, but fingers crossed she does indeed have new stuff on the horizon. If true, she\'s the second high-profile X Factor success story to jump ship in the space of a year, after Leona Lewis moved from Sony\'s Syco to Universal\'s Island Records in the hope of gaining more artistic freedom.

In between recording sessions, though, Cher\'s evidently been getting stuck-in to Celebrity Big Brother... and she\'s been rooting for Perez Hilton, despite the fact he\'s completely and utterly clashing with the vast majority of his housemates. She\'s not so enthusiastic about a certain other show over on ITV, though: "So disappointed with @starsineyes it\'s almost like a parody?" Quick, get someone singing \'Swagger Jagger\' on there ASAP!
