This Day in History: The Day The Music Died: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper
On Feb. 3, 1959, rock stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson were killed in a plane crash. This incident became known as “The Day The Music Died,” after Don McLean coined it in his 1971 song, “American Pie.”
