I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Everything you need to know about the Prison Break revival: Cast, plot and spoilers - Prison Break Feature - Cult - Digital Spy
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
"I feel as though we told the story we intended to tell. That\'s something that\'s very rare in television - that you\'re allowed closure - and we were."
Wentworth Miller implied that the show was unlikely to return. You can understand the sentiment, since series finale
had left Miller\'s character - aesthetically pleasing, plentifully tattooed architect Michael Scofield - dead and buried.
Five years on and Miller was re-teamed with his former co-star and screen sibling Dominic Purcell on
- Purcell was Heatwave, fiery familiar of Miller\'s Captain Cold on the superhero series, and their reunion sparked (no pun intended) new interest in
In January 2015, Fox Television Group chairman Gary Newman stressed that while there were no immediate plans to bring
, which honestly was news to us," Newman told the press, before warming to the idea of a comeback - seemingly mid-speech.
"It\'s probably the perfect event series," he acknowledged. "If our old partners in that show are interested, that would be great."
Still, with Michael six feet under, the prospect of a full-blooded resurrection felt like a pipe dream. Until - five months later - reports emerged that Fox was now seriously eyeing a potential limited series revival, "with a self-contained storyline".
One month on - in July - and Dominic Purcell confirmed that he and Miller were in talks for the project. Miller too? Yes, the late Mr Scofield would apparently feature in the revival - "The [concept] that I\'ve heard is completely brilliant, so people will be fine," Purcell insisted.
exclusive when Sarah Wayne Callies, Michael\'s beloved Sara Tancredi, told us that she had also been contacted about reprising her role. "Somebody approached me to talk about it," she revealed. "If they\'re going back, and the scripts are good, maybe we\'ve got more stories to tell."
With buzz at a high, Fox didn\'t wait long to make an official announcement - in August, the network broke the news that 10 new episodes had been ordered, with original series creator Paul Scheuring penning the first episode and a \'series bible\' for the remainder of the season.
"I would describe it as a bit of a sequel," said Fox Television Group co-chair Dana Walden. "It picks up with the characters several years after we left them in the show. The brothers will be back. "
Walden added that "some of the [other] iconic characters... will be back" - but did not confirm any cast participation beyond leads Miller and Purcell. As for Michael\'s demise, Walden reiterated that the revival will provide "a logical and believable explanation to why the characters are alive and still moving around the world".
Beyond Miller, Purcell and possibly Callies, actor Amaury Nolasco - a fan favourite as Michael\'s kind-hearted cellmate Fernando Sucre - also looks set to return, with Purcell posting an Instagram image of his old co-star with the hashtag #soon.
Digital Spy readers want Fernando Sucre back in the
#papi My boy @amaurynolasco one of the nicest coolest humans you will ever have the privilege of meeting. Soon #brother ha!!
Purcell has since posted images of both Robert Knepper - T-Bag - and Jodi Lyn O\'Keefe - Gretchen - though did not explicitly state that they would be part of the revival.
Filming on the new episodes is set to commence once Purcell and Miller have wrapped on the first season of
in which the pair are also series regulars (busy boys!).
Though an airdate is yet to be confirmed, the event series is expected to premiere sometime in 2016.
