Y'know what may be a fairly cool plot line for a novel? Basically switching the roles of genders, so females are dominant over males. Say on some foreign island there was a huge war in which only the stronger/healthier/more competent males were used in, and it eventually depleted the male population greatly on the island, forcing the women to take action.
