~Plot Stuff~
Hundreds and hundreds of years ago, there existed an otherworldly arcane essence that existed by the name of Magic/Magick. This essence was a variety of things. Lush and in great abundance, full of life and a energy that science had become a pale reflection of in the years that followed. However, it was also an essence that harbored a wicked face as well, bound to attract misfortune and death to all who were able to understand and or obtain it if not tamed properly. The secrets of this essence falling into the wrong hands would bring nothing but catastrophe.

And catastrophe it brought, those hundreds a years ago. One that thrust magic into an era in which it had began to fade and a new form of energy created at the hands of man became the new. The world in which magic had come from became a myth, magic itself became a myth as time progressed and left it to fade and never be seen again.

Or perhaps....what isn't seen isn't truly gone. And perhaps...the world thought to be myth is much more than just so. But what is certain is that what has lurked in the veils of shadows within the darkness, behind illusions of people, places and things. Forces that had managed to slip into the ages of the new world. Those of good. Those of evil and malice. Those of...magic. And perhaps...hope. But...will the newest of generations derived from those hundreds of years be able to face what comes?

And so we fly ahead in time to the present, where villages have become cities of tall structures, and dreams of flight have become a reality.

"w-w-what the heck happened while I was g-gone...." Yoon muttered through bloodshot eyes. She knew hospitals took care of patients, but never before she thought it could to this degree. She shuffled uncomfortably on her bed, thinking to herself where she was going to get the money to pay this since her family didn't necessarily have insurance. She figured she would give them some false information before escaping whenever she got the chance to. In the meantime, Yoon laid back down on her reclined bed, her bandaged arms moving stiffly to type in numbers into the phone for what seemed the 100th time. Her mother wasn't answering, and she knew she wasn't the type to answer if she didn't recognize the phone number. However, in her next attempt, she gasped when the familiar voice picked up instead of sending her to voicemail.

"Hahlloo?! Who this, call too much!" Yoon's mother spoke into the phone.

Yoon sighed of relief when she recognized her mother was okay. "M-M-Mom, i-it's me, Y-Yoon--"

"--YOONIE!?"

The young woman cringed at the yelling that came afterwards. She sighed, being forced to listen to her mother's accusations and lectures. She spent a good three minutes silent, simply letting her mother scream at her for her disappearance. But she was relieved to know that her brother was okay too. Yoon wasn't sure how to explain what happened to the woman that brought her into this world and nursed her. She didn't want to put her through anything she herself had witnessed so far. Yoon refused to tell her the truth for her safety, and instead said a lie that she knew would only get her mom more angry. But what came afterwards made her heart sink just a little.

"PaRtY?! You at Party?! You skip brother, you skip me--you leave alone--you no care, you just party and care about yourself!!!" She heard her mother yell at her. "I pick up Sangeon from Police Station because you at pArTy?! Sangeon no eat dinner, you no water plants, you no clean room, you no do nothing but party!"

Tears inevitably began to stream down Yoon's face, and she sniffled quietly so that her mother wouldn't hear her. "You scare Sangeon with monsters from movie and now he no want sleep! He lie just like you!" The woman on the other side of the phone yelled at her. "You lie lie lie, just like father and lie no genetic! You already twenty and you no care! you still no care, you act like baby! out partying?!"

"M-Mom, I said I was sorry, I-I'll be home soo--" Her raspy voice was cut off by her mother again.

"No, no--you no come back home! You bad influence on sangeon! Bad bad honor brings! You need be more like Lauren--more responsible, more careful, more organized---she has life! She works and has life! You no do NOTHING but sit and eat! You like cat!"

"Mom--" But it was too late. Yoon's mother had hung up on her. The young Korean woman found her head low between her knees, crying softly to herself. Her hand trembled, and she had to stop herself from launching the phone towards the wall.

[Nicholas]

He wouldn't wake until another hour and a half later with his head feeling like it had been hit by a vase, his eyes burning the moment he opened them to the white lights of the hospital. He covered his face with his hands, only to realize that he was covered in bandages, the left having a cast over it and the scrapes on his elbows and knees covered in cotton patches. His nose didn't hurt as much as it had before, but he could still feel it pulsating.

It was hard for the boy to remember anything up until he had got back into the car of the Asian lady. But even then, he wasn't sure if that had even been real. It was like a dream. Or in his case, more akin to a nightmare.

Nicholas sat up in the bed that he had been assigned to only to whimper in pain as the aches in his body became evident. He looked at the time, already anxious that he was waking up in a hospital to began with. And it didn't help that it was almost 5 in the morning.

Yoon was wiping at her tears until she heard footsteps approaching her room. Immediately, she fell under the covers of her bed and pretended like she was asleep. She allowed the nurse to do her quick inspection before she left again, closing the door on her way out. Underneath the covers, Yoon sighed to herself. She fidgeted with the new phone, cursing to herself and thinking she should have taken the phone she left for Nicholas from the corpses instead. But she knew she owed him a phone anyway, and luckily someone who had perished had the exact same phone or at least a similar one with almost a full battery.

The young woman sniffled and slowly got out of bed, wincing as she did so. She began to strip off the wires and tubes attached to her. Her movement was slow to prevent any further lingering pain. Yoon was grateful that she was put into a room with a bathroom in it, and she took advantage of cleaning her face and mouth with the running water. She poured some on a napkin and wiped at her neck, cooing softly to herself at the relieving sensation. After patting herself dry, she turned off the light and began searching for her sneakers so she could find a way out.

A phone was the last thing that Nicholas was worried about as he pulled himself out of the bed with mild difficulty, the floor cold to his feet. The first thing he did was go to the window, being forced to bring his iv with him when he found all of the wires attached to him. He peering down at the parking lot, and then at what little he could see of the surroundings buildings but he couldn't tell whether or not he was familiar with the area that the hospital was in. He noticed his reflection seconds later and found himself staring at the stitches on the forehead of his reflection with wide eyes. And when he went to touch them with his fingers out of disbelief, but yanked them away when a mere touch brought upon a terrible sting.
-
While Yoon was searching for her sneakers the knob to her room door turned for a moment, but paused with there being an exchange of words between one of the doctor's and another individual just outside the door.

Sammy was jolted awake when the van began to shake. She either drool from her mouth and shouted "Are we under attack"
Mason just answered with an eye roll and a sigh as he put the van in drive and started down the country road, illuminated only by the headlights

"aha!" Yoon was about to reach for her sneakers under the bed; that is, until she heard the turning of the knob of her room. She gasped, and realized it would take her too long to put back all the wires and machinery back on. And so instead she hid behind one of the shelves and retrieved her wand from her back pocket, wincing some as she squatted.

Jackie wanted to give a witty remark in response to Sammy asking if they were under attack but found herself not wanting to waste the breath it would take on doing so. She turned the radio off and rolled down her window as she spoke to Mason. "I'm going to need you to stop once I give the word to. My grandmother's dogs aren't too fond of unfamiliar people."

~

The door opened, and two individuals walked in. The first was the doctor, a short man that looked a little like Hugh Laurie with a thicker beard. The other was a rather handsome dark-haired fellow dressed in a suit and die, both in which were black.

"Nicholi with all due respect, she's still a patient. I know the situation is important but at least let her rest," the doctor was in the middle of speaking in a hushed tone, believing Yoon to have been sleeping based on what he had gotten from the nurse.

He was answered by a voice that spoke softly yet with authority that begged to differ. "Just as I said over the phone, we're short on time. What answers we can get now. Has that not been made clear by the number of patients with "abnormal injuries"? You've seen it with your own eyes–"

Their conversation came to a stop upon realizing that the bed was no longer occupied. The doctor was baffled. "Wh–sh-she was just here–where could she have gone?"

The other man cursed to himself. But then his gaze began to wonder around the room.

"I-I don't understa–"

"We need to find her." The man interrupted him with a sharp tone. "Check to see if there's anything to be gathered from the cameras. I'm going to make a phone call."

Disappeareus..... disappearielous.... disappeary.... disappaermeada... None of the words Yoon mumbled seemed to be any sort of spell that made her vanish, no matter how many times she smacked herself with the wand. In fact, her wand wasn't glowing as vibrantly as it once was when she had first released a stream of magic.

She gulped, finding herself trapped behind the small shelf. Luckily for her she herself was small, but she knew that wouldn't last forever. She thought that perhaps she could lie about her identity, or maybe find a nurse disguise. Yoon kept quiet as she heard the two men speak, scrunching her nose some at one of them and their need to find her. An amateur thought of them both possibly leaving the room crossed Yoon, and she slowly started to crawl some like a worm, exposing herself briefly while trying to hide underneath the bed. And although she was small, she wasn't necessarily thin, and the thickness of her outfit created friction, creating a sandwich with her between the bottom of the bed and the floor. She mumbled some to herself, shifting uncomfortably as she found herself stuck.

"After what I've been through tonight, I'll take a grandma and her dogs" Mason replied, waiting for a laugh that didn't come, at least from Sammy. Rather than point out the joke, though he opened his mouth to do so Mason turned his attention back to the road, looking for the left turn. He kept his attention on it, since the light from the van only lit up so much of the road, catching a brief glimpse of a path heading toward the left

Jackie didn't even attempt to laugh, but instead gave Mason a quizzical squint at his joke. But she didn't comment on it and instead turned her gaze back to the road.

The dark "country" road that Mason drove on would soon become surrounded by tall stalks of corn that reached a bit higher than the average stalk.

"Slow down a bit." Jackie suddenly to Mason just as they approached a long wooden fence that would have stuck out in the darkness of the night even if not for the small glints of lights that speckled in the air. "We're going to stop just ahead and walk from there."

~

[???]

Suddenly the weight of the bed shifted from above, and Yoon would be able to see a pair of glossy black shoes shifting into a rest as he sat down on the edge of the bed after the doctor left.

The man was silent, and in turn the room was just as quiet up until what sounded like a ringing phone came about.
-
At the Park's residence, Ms.Park's phone would start to ring. The number the call was coming from would be strange, for it would rapidly switch between numbers until it became a familiar 000-000-000 with the extra inclusion of a strange circled "c" the size of an asterisk at the end.

"Walk? In this?" Mason looked out around them, barely able to make out where they were aside from a mass collection of stars in the sky and the faint glint of the now setting moon before he looked back at Jackie and asked, "You'll be leading the way, right?"
"You ask too many questions to an unreliable source, Mason" Sammy responded as she unbuckled her seat belt and threw the door open as soon as the van came to a stop, jumping out before turning back with a nod, "The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can be back in not-so-sunny Florida"
Mason opened his mouth to talk, but when Sammy already closed the door, Mason just sighed, putting the car into park, turning off the ignition, and stepping out into the night, feeling the vast difference between here and Florida

"If only I could be unreliable enough to let you be a chew toy," Jackie was going to say, but decided to keep it to herself as she was the first out of the van. While closing the door, she stared out at the gate and then passed it at the path between the cornfields and felt a little anxious. It had been almost 3 years since she had last set foot on the property, the winter air still as chilling as ever. But perhaps some things were for a reason. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and started walking when she opened them.

From within the cornfields a beastly snarl tore into the air, the growls and howling that joined it echoing.

Mason had to cover his arms as best as he could, even Sammy with her outgoing personality was getting cold from the snow. Mason had almost forgotten that it was Christmas, being in the hot state of Florida for so long, he forgot what snow even looked like here, having seen it start to fall around them, hearing the crunch from underneath his feet. And through it all, all he could think was, "I hate snow". But his thoughts were left blank once he heard the faint growl from around them. His head darted back in forth in surprise as he looked around, turning to Jackie as he asked, "T-That was your grandma's dogs, right?"

Yoon froze when she felt someone on top of the bed now, pausing her wiggling legs that attempted to shift inwards. She gulped, cursing to herself internally instead as she now quietly and slowly tried rotating her body so she could try and hide her legs despite being stuck. The sudden ring of the phone almost made her jolt.

* * *

Meanwhile, Mrs. Park was enjoying her instant ramen cup as a late dinner at five in the morning. She hated instant meals; however, after struggling for hours to put her son to bed and convince him monsters didn't exist, she found the need to enjoy something quick and easy. This was one of the few times she appreciated Yoon's cubby of various types of ramen. Of course, she threw in her own twist by adding egg, spinach, and excess soy sauce to accentuate the flavors. The older woman didn't feel as sleepy as she would usually feel due to all hassle she needed to handle tonight, in addition to being used to working late hours. She was still in the same clothing she was in when she had first gone to pick up Sangeon at the police station. Mrs. Park was watching the news as she slurped her noodles with silver chopsticks, shaking her head in dismay at the current events. Her attention left the TV screen when she heard her cellphone ring, glaring at it as she assumed it was her daughter calling again. To her surprise, it was a different number–a number in which her glare became a scowl accompanied with a squint. She sipped the last bit of her soup before clearing her throat and answering the call. "Kyung-ha Park. Oi?" She introduced her name.

As he was answering the woman the man let out a sigh of relief, standing just as quickly as he sat and swiftly moving to ease the door close. "I've been hearing that you're quite difficult to get in touch with nowadays. It's been far too long Commander Kyung," He said to the woman with both familiarity and a high amount of respect.

Though his voice would be less recognizable due to the last time the two spoke being just short of a decade, back when he was still an amateur agent of the organization. However, there was only one person that had ever had the nerve to address the woman by her first name let alone with such respect behind it

Yoon would be able to see his shoes turn towards the bed as he continued to speak on the phone. "I apologize for contacting you at such late hours, but it's urgent that we speak."

~

"Of course it is," Jackie said with a hint of annoyance in her voice as she added, "Particularly the hard-headed ones. Honestly, she can be so petty at times."

Ahead of them where dim lights could be seen reflecting off of the tall cornstalks, something lunged across the road from one end of the fields to the other, bringing a hard rustle about.

"If you have food or anything of the likes anywhere on you I'd advise getting rid of it if you have your best interests in mind. Oh and please, no screaming. It'll only make it worse."
over a year ago Windwakerguy430 said…
Mason was doing his best not to be intimidated in the moment. He was never a favorite toward dogs. In fact, dogs always had a habit of either running from him or just biting in out right. He made sure to check his pockets in case he had anything, but all that was in there was his wallet with only twelve dollars and his phone. Sammy didn't even bother to check her pockets, knowing that food would ruin her style, and just made her way forward with her hands in her pocket "Wonder what kind of dog she has. If they're that loud and aggressive, it's probably a chihuahua or something"
over a year ago afewseconds said…
"I'd lean more towards the something, but for your own sake we'll call them chihuahuas. As I said before, they aren't too fond of unfamiliar individuals. And so they're only usually this loud when they're either warning or preparing to hunt down what they've warned. The nice one always shows up first." She scoffed at the fact that her grandmother hadn't already locked them away despite already knowing that they were coming. She had half the mind to think that the woman wanted the two to be eaten alive. Then again, that doesn't sound too far off the fray of things, she thought while shaking her head, sighing once more.
over a year ago Windwakerguy430 said…
"Oh, great, that makes me feel better" Mason replied with a sarcastic tone as he kept moving forward, more slowly than before, the combination of fear and the cold getting to him both contributing to his slow movement. Regardless, Sammy kept moving with confidence, though even she was taken a bit by surprise at the sound the dogs would make, but of course, she brushed it off. A dog is a dog like any other, she thought to herself, and made sure to remember the techniques necessary to avoid getting eaten by a dog, moving at a much faster pace than Mason was

Out of the three of them Jackie was the most calm when it came to the subject of her grandmother's pets, mostly due to being familiar enough with them to avoid their more...complicated side. In fact, she was sure that she probably was the only one more anxious about seeing her grandmother than the cold or the beasts of the field that growled so viciously from the darkness around them.

The path would wind to the right, and the trio would follow it towards the awaiting opening where more light, most likely coming from a porch, was painted across the ground. In front of them at the end of the path was what appeared to be some sort of statue in the dim light, its ears pointing upwards and its wide chest settled. The statue was as wide and long as Mason's van, but easily a few feet taller.

"Stop," Jackie said both suddenly and sharply to Mason and Sammy before they could get any closer. "Follow my instructions, and slowly take a seat on the ground."
over a year ago Windwakerguy430 said…
Mason looked up at the statue, taking notice of how big it was, staring at it in amazement, almost moving a few steps forward before Jackie had asked him to stop. He didn't dare take another step at the response and immediately sat on the ground as ordered. Sammy, however, was far more hesitant to get her jeans anywhere near the dirty snow, but it took very little convincing, or rather Mason pulling her down, to get her to sit down, followed by a light shriek, "Ah! My ass is cold!" She whispered harshly, which was immediately shushed by Mason

Jackie was tense, moving carefully as she knelt down and placed her hands on the ground. Her eyes became a emerald glow in night, and when she spoke her words were directed towards the statue. "Alright you oaf, I expect you to be mindful of the hair."

From in front of them there was a low growl in response that told Mason and Sammy that the statue was not so much a statue. They could see the slow rising and fall of its chest from hard breaths. Its hind side rose from its sit and its canine-like build was a shadow that blocked the majority of the light from view. And right before their eyes, its visibility disappeared almost as if it had melted away. As if it were no longer there.

"Don't...move." Jackie warned Mason and Sammy as she rose back to her feet slowly, careful not to make any movements that would be deemed sudden.

Mason didn't dare to look up or even breathe wrong. Hearing the sound of the rock of the sculpture moving was enough to turn him into a statue himself. Commander?!?! Yoon screamed in her mind, causing her to suddenly jolt and bump her head rather hard on the bed. She immediately cursed, lowering her head within the crook of her neck and hoping she wasn’t noticed. She shook the name off, thinking to herself there were many Kyungs in Florida and coincidentally someone this guy knew had the same name. Or perhaps she even misheard the name.

“Is just Kyung-ha now.” The woman immediately corrected him brokenly. She walked with her phone to the kitchen to toss out the cup of noodles and wash her chopsticks. After patting herself dry, she turned around and leaned against the counter. “What you call for? So early too.” She added with a small yawn.
over a year ago afewseconds said…
Despite the bump from under the bed the man continued to speak, and Yoon seemingly went as unnoticed as she had been. "Again, my apologies for such an untimely call, but I'm sure by now you must be aware that a Code 99 Oni has been called into effect."

A Code 99 White Oni, a order that was only put into place when the organization deemed a threat to be that of a national level. It had only been called into effect a total of two times throughout the organization's history. Usually even the retired were asked to assist depending on what end of the spectrum the situation was on. Blue was the lighter end of the spectrum, while Red was when things were on the brink of possibly getting out of control. The spectrum was dependent on the amount of deaths and damage that occurred. White was the middle ground between the two, neutral but with high priorities set in means of actions taken.

And then he continued with the reason he was calling. "Your daughter is currently in the hospital suffering from injuries, her and a child. They both were found near the place where the incident happened. "If it wouldn't mind be too problematic, I'd like to drop by and Drop Off These Cups." It was a phrase that was more tuned to the both of them whenever they needed to speak in privacy. A meeting of agents.

~

Jackie's eyes surveyed the area and front of them, and at the last second she caught sight of what any normal person could explain only as moving air that outlined the large body of the creature that weighed their collective presence watchfully.

Thump. Crunch. THUMP. CRUNCH. THUMP. THUMP. The beast lumbered across the snowy ground towards them, minuscule tremors present with each step it took. Snif sniiiiiiif.

Jackie held her hand out to the creature, feeling its hot breath when it took in her scent. "Honestly, as many times as I've used you as a horse as a child you should know my scent by now. She scoffed at the snort she got from the beast in retort.

The sniffing then went to Mason and Sammy, Sammy's hair being brought into the creature's nose. And in turn, a gooey sneeze covered some of her hair and face in mucus. The beast growled, its jagged teeth just barely revealing themselves before it moved on to sniff at Mason. The cornfields around them began to rustle wildly, and then silence.

"Your daughter is currently in the hospital suffering from injuries...

Yoon's eyes widen at the correlation between her situation and her mother who she was very sure was being spoken to on the phone. fuck... She muttered very quietly, wondering if there was some sort of spell that existed that could potentially erase memories.

"Yes yes, code 99 white oni..." Ms. Park repeated with a slight hint of disgust and dismay. Her fingers tapped on her counter, knowing exactly what this call was about. A couple years ago she had declined the offer of rejoining the organization; however, this time she knew she didn't have much of a choice. She was about to ask for a location before all air left her breath when she was notified of Yoon's status. The woman felt her hand holding the phone to her tremble; which was odd since all her responsibilities requiring stealthy hands had never once made them quake. "Y-Yoonie?" She coughed her daughter's name to reassure if she had heard correctly. If there was one thing she hated most it was definitely lying, ironically. Her face turned a soft shade of pink as she felt her blood boil in anger. Yes, she felt guilty and regretted yelling at her daughter, but the more she thought of how dumb of a lie she fell for, the more angry she got. The man on the other side of the phone no longer heard a response. In fact, Ms. Park had hung up.

Ring, Ring, Ring!

Yoon felt her heart stop when the stolen phone she kept in her pocket broke the silence and began ringing under the bed. She wasn't sure if her wand was sharp enough to stab herself, but she was willing to try. Yoon gulped, knowing her location was already obvious. And when she saw who was calling, she was too scared to NOT answer the phone. In fact, her mother scared her sometimes more than that droven. Her thumb pressed the answer button, and she slowly rose the cellphone to her head. "....h-hello..." She still attempted to whisper, even if it was no use at this point.

"YOON PARK YOU LIE TWICE TO MY FACE YOU NO PARTY YOU AT HOSPITAL YOU KNOW LIE NO GOOD LIE IS DISHONOR––" Yoon's face cringed in fear at her mother's angry voice. There was no need for her to put her on speaker because even with her being under the bed, the young man could clearly hear Ms. Park yelling through the phone in a tone that wasn't her usual friendly one she introduced herself to customers with.

The man had still had the phone placed to his ear for a few seconds after it had went silent. From the moment he figured that she had hung up, he was nearly expecting her to arrive at the hospital at no time at all. However, after he heard the phone that Yoon had ringing from under the bed, he almost felt bad for the woman before she even answered. He knew all too well what was going to be on its way when Yoon answered the phone. But rather than interfere in any way he instead remained by the door, peeping out into the busy halls to look around before closing the door back.

He glanced towards the bed when he heard the yelling that was coming from the phone. He found himself chuckling a second, the familiar sternness bringing back memories that were not so fond while he was on the receiving end. But it made him think, Ten years? Has it truly been that long?, He waited patiently for the conversation between Yoon and Ms. Park to finish, using the time to mentally skim through the events of the day.

Despite her best efforts to remain silent, Jackie and Mason could hear the faintest whimper of pure agony come from Sammy at the feeling of mucus falling into her hair, already feeling the need for a shower immediately. But again, she didn't dare move. Mason didn't either as he felt the hair on his head move from the air being blown from the creatures nostrils. He remained as still as he could, not daring to even look up from the ground, yet his eyes were wide in absolute terror

Yoon spent a good five minutes underneath the bed, her body tense as she was forced to listen to her mother's scolding both in English and Korean. She tried telling her there was no need to visit her at the hospital, however it was too late. With a last warning, Ms. Park hung up and was ready to get the first cab available.

The woman underneath the bed sighed, sliding the phone back through her pocket. She didn't get the chance to ask her who she was talking to previously either since she was too mad to answer any of her questions. Yoon grunted some as she scooted herself out the bed, bumping her head on the way to freedom. "O-Ow..." She whimpered, attempting to rub at her head only to find raising her arms higher than normal forcing a sharp sting among her body. Yoon shook her head once out, her bobcut hair flicking off any dust that was accumulated in her attempt to hide. The young woman rose to her feet, rubbing at her bandages gently while scrunching her face at the man whose back faced her. Her fingers cracked at him and she had to restrain herself from choking him for ratting her out, taking advantage of mouthing curse words and stupid faces at him while she still had the chance.

Jackie was quiet, her eyes following the cornstalks that had been sent into a sway. And finally, she let out a long sigh of relief, which eventually became a chuckle. "That went well enough." As well as it could have went while surrounded by a pack of beasts that were trying to figure out if you were an ally or unwelcomed foe. And so she started leading the way again with a less careful stride in her step. "Our destination isn't far off from here."

~

"You're aware that I can see you, right?" The man asked, though his back was still facing her when he did. His eyes surveyed the area again, but this time out of the rectangular window that was behind the small privacy curtain on the door. Afterwards he turned around finally only to pause when he saw Yoon. His expression didn't reveal the curiosity that his eyes held once his gaze met hers, his eyes a soft powder blue. "Hm...the resemblance is almost uncanny," he commented, one of his hands in his pocket. The other outstretched towards her with his hand open for her to shake. "Abel," he introduced himself. And though it was barely even noticeable, the corners of his lips lifted very slightly into a smile.

((Agent Abel Nicholi))

"Well!? How was that well?!" Said, surprisingly not Mason, but Sammy, as she tried her best to wipe the mucus from her head, to no avail sadly. She had this look of disgust on her face as she stood up and followed, "That thing got slime all over me! I feel so sickened"
"Be thankful that you didn't get eaten" Mason replied as he followed, still walking with caution as he looked around them
"I wish it did" Sammy replied in an annoyed tone now, "At least I wouldn't suffer like this!"

"--eep--" Yoon yelped to herself when the person in front of him suddenly spoke, still having his back face her. She groaned, slapping her forehead and having to remind herself that not everyone she would meet would be human anymore and she couldn't get away with her insults behind someone's back like she could with her mom. She took a step back some when he approached her, having to lift her chin up completely to actually look into his eyes. And then she blinked, her eyes glancing down at his outstretched hand. She couldn't remember when was the last time she shook hands with someone or simply introduced herself. "....y-yoon...." The woman mumbled quietly before shaking his hand softly to avoid excess pressure on her hands.

Abel shook Yoon's hands carefully, already having considered her injuries beforehand. "A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Yoon."

The touch of his hand was strange, for it seemed to sink passed the fabric of the bandages. What was stranger was that it held no warmth or chill. There was only a numbness that, if only for a moment, seemed to erase any trace of magic from the young woman until he drew his hand away from hers.

"I can relate to being on the receiving end of your mother's temper. But trust that she means well." He said with another one of those very slight smiles of his. "A sure reason for any questions I may have to be ignored until she arrives, wouldn't you agree?"

~

"Oh but Samantha it looks so well on you," Jackie gave a satisfied giggle of sorts. "Oh if there were perhaps a reliable magical source that could help you rid yourself of canis drool." She gave a hmph

The would exit the cornfield and come out onto the plains of a large ranch that sat within the view of forest that was sheltered under the light of the moon. The atmosphere seemed to shift.. The air was clearer, the stars within the night more prominent. But this would especially be noticed the most by Mason, with only more subtle hints of the magic there to be experienced by Sammy.

Yoon retrieved her hand and stared at it for a second or two before shoving it inside the pockets of her oversized hoodie. Her brows were slightly furrowed as Abel spoke, not sure what to make of him as a person. "H-How do you know my mom? Y-you didn't have to call her, now she's going to be all worried and that's the last thing I need right now. I-I don't know how to explain her the things that I have w-witnessed." She looked away momentarily and was quiet for a few seconds. "A-Are you... A-Are you another type of pohji?" She hoped that the answer was a yes. "I-I know this m-might sound crazy but my friend w-who's also a pohji was left behind a-and I need to go back and g-get her! She is in great danger--s-so if you could distract my mom or whatever as I figure out a way I would really a-appreciate that!"

"Well then why aren't you helping me!?" Sammy shouted at her, before she was immediately silenced by Mason, his attention going to the ranch before them. he took notice that the air felt warmer hear, taking notice of the snow that had just gotten warmer around them, looking around at the open field and the small house in the center, looking back at Jackie, ignoring the plight of Sammy as he asked "Is this it?".

Abel didn't speak while Yoon spoke or asked questions within her rambling, but instead observed the woman before him. He listened closely to what she was saying however, and his mind was fast at work. Some of the things that Yoon spoke of made his brows twitch into a furrow. What was a pohji? Why would she assume that he also was one? Where was this place that she needed to return to? The nightclub?
But at her request, he shook his head. "Negative. You should have some understanding by now of why I can't do that."

~

Jackie gave a small nod, smiling at the familiar sight. Home sweet home. It was still exactly as she had left it. As she always would remember it. But what else did she expect from a place that refused to bend to the will of time?

The light from the porch came from lanterns that hung from the top of the porch, two candles burning within each of them. Yet these candles seemed to glow from the inside as well unlike any candle ever seen. Their light washed over the brick path that led up to the house that the land around them belonged to.

As the two looked up at the house, mostly Mason at this point, he stayed behind Jackie, quite the distance in fact as he looked at the cabin before he looked over at Jackie, giving her a nod, "Ladies first" he replied, not wanting to step onto the porch first for fear of what might be behind there. He didn't want to risk it, not after what he felt was nearly a heart attack after the encounter with the statue

Yoon’s lips quivered into a frown as she heard his answer. She sighed to herself, her hands itching at hitting something to relieve her anger. But instead, all she could do was sit down on the edge of her bed. She needed a way to find Yasha as soon as possible. Her head sunk between her knees, but she was in too much pain to even cry.

"A gentleman as well? Well, I don't mind if I do," Jackie responded in a manner that was much more humorous than her previous attempts. While they approached the home she noticed the curls of steam that rose from the chimney, and as she stepped up the stairs to the spacious porch her nose caught the scent of something sweet. She stopped before they would reach the door and turned to Sammy and Mason. "Leave your shoes at the door upon entering and please, not too many questions this time. Especially if they're coming from you," she pointed a finger at Sammy before flicking it and causing a magic gust to rid her of the gooey saliva.

~

Abel frowned a little, watching Yoon's shift of emotions with a hint of empathy. He could only imagine what she must have witnessed. "There were many deaths taken into account from what I've gathered from the details on my way from Busan, including the unfortunate ones added to the count from tonight. However, there were also reports that included the escape of many of those individuals that were present. Your friend very may very well be among them."

"N-no, no... you don't understand, her and i were in some sort of different dime---" Yoon stopped herself and sighed instead, knowing how crazy she was going to sound already. "N-Nevermind, I just need someone who knows mag--" She paused again and massaged her temples. Yoon remained silent for a long time, an expression of worry present on her face now. She glanced out the window before her attention went back to Abel, but she didn't look at him with her eyes. "H-How do you know my m-mom....?" She asked him. "I-I didn't give any details of my family to the doctors for a reason..."

"That's an interesting question, the how. It's quite the stroll down memory lane." The smile that couldn't be seen on his face could be heard in his voice. "I met your mother during my childhood, our paths made to cross due to our similar line of work." When he and Yoon's mother encountered one another he was merely a boy that was only 10 years of age during what he later learned was a rescue mission. A lost child that had something special about him that the organization wanted to exploit. The same woman five years later became his mentor upon his acceptance.

"Childhood?" Yoon lifted her head some in confusion. That was an unexpected response she received compared to thinking he was probably a past client of hers. "Work?" Her head tilted some. "Wait... you cut hair too? Do you own a barbershop?" That would explain his well kept hair as well. "She usually talks about her work acquaintances but I don't think she mentioned you..."

Abel's brow rose, and he looked as if he was going to laugh. However one never came and only words arrived in its place. "If I could imagine myself indulging in something that has as much normalcy as tending to other people's hair I don't think I'd be present here. But I could draw similarities, such as both occupations being very...hands on, at times. To simplify things, I am tasked with dealing with what others cannot. And if your mother hasn't spoken to you about these things, trust that it has probably been for the best."

"Hey, I can point fingres too-"
"No!" Mason shouted, putting Sammy's hand down before she could even react. Mason was ready to question leaving his shoes out while it was so cold, but he didn't dare question it, throwing his sneakers to the floor immediately and staying close behind Jackie. Sammy, once again, was less hesitant to take her classy boots off, but followed suit with it and left them neatly against the door before whispering, "If that dog chews on them, I'm taking it out of her pocket"

Yoon's brows furrowed some at the last of his statement. "My mom tells me everything." She corrected him. "And hey, cutting hair isn't so much of a normalcy once you consider waves and bangs...." The young woman added from the edge of her bed. She looked at the floor for a minute, her legs swaying back and forth since they didn't reach the ground. "H-How am I supposed to tell my mom what happened... She's going to be scared... A-And if you're some sort of detective t-then I don't think you're ready to face what was the cause behind that club..." She said, assuming he didn't know about magic or monsters.

"You may not have to worry about that being the case. You might very well be attached to them if any chewing gets involved," Jackie said, letting Sammy know that her ears were just as good as her magic. "Besides. When it comes to material they prefer their chew toys to have taste." And with that, she approached the door and knocked twice.

~

"Oh but I am." Abel walked across the room and to the window, looking out in the direction that he had followed the ambulance from. He was silent for a second or two, finding the words that would be just enough. "It's my work to be ready to face what lies in the dark crevices of what we know as reality. What we think is reality. And so I do so under the order of the powers that be. With that being said, I can assure you that your mother will be much less afraid of than you believe."

Mason, out of sheer curiosity, as well as hoping to keep Sammy from asking more absurd questions to Jackie, peeked over Jackie's shoulder at the door, looking at it in anticipation after she knocked. He waited for what felt like minutes for a response to come, his eyes darting Jackie to Sammy to the door to where the dog creatures once were, and then back to the door once more when he heard the faintest creak come from it

"Huh? No..." Yoon's left brow raised. "Pretty sure my mom would be crying and much more scared than I am if she knew about this all..." She said with slight confidence. "Which is okay, I-I shouldn't judge someone who can't whistle or speak good english or tear bags properly from the checkout at stores..." Yoon said in thought of her mother. "I mean, my mom couldn't even handle her divorce with my dad. She wouldn't stand a chance...." The young woman added. But then she thought back to Abel's explanation of his job. "Wait... so you know about..." She stopped herself. "I think we should keep that information between us. My mom's already stressed as it is."

Abel couldn't help but be surprised by the amount of naivety that the woman seemed to have. It was even more surprising to him that she truly believed that her mother was some sort of fragile thing that wouldn't be able to even fathom the darker side of the existing world. It baffled him. But he understood the circumstances well from that alone. "While we could do just that, what would be accomplished from hiding from a mind knowledge it already has? I would be more than happy to give a further explanation, but I feel that it's not my place to do so if she hasn't herself."

~

What seemed like minutes were only seconds, and the heavy door of solid oak swung open. However, there was no one on the other side. Yet from the moment the door opened, it was as if a gaze had already settled on the three.

"Out out OUT! Scram! You good for nothin–" Wham!

Before they knew it, an orange chubby cat was sprinting in their direction as if its life depended on it. Behind it a broom flew out from where the feline had, floating across the air and swiping at it until the cat darted through Mason's legs and out the door to its escape.

A woman just a little shorter than Jackie's current height with hair such a light shade of gray that it was almost white came sliding across the floor on her feet and into the hall, the broom flying by its handle into her hand. Her hair was like the mane of a lion, wild yet beautifully tamed by the strands of ginger that stuck out in some places. It swung from left to right as she turned her head in search of the cat who's claw marks had found themselves all over her clothing.

"Uh...greetings, grandmothe–AH!" Jackie found herself stepping back some when she found the broom handle almost poking her in the eye as it was pointed at her face.

"Its about damn time! Oh and don't you "greetings" me missy," the woman said with narrowed dim but sharp green eyes. And despite the title of grandmother as well has her head of grey, she appeared to be remarkably youthful for her age. Like a 50 year old who's prime had yet to pass. "Three years and waking me up in the middle of the gods damn morning and that's all you've got to say to me? You'd be lucky if I don't greet this broom upside your head! And what have I told you about walking around here like that? Show you ancestors some respectable honor and flaunt your true self!" She gave a irritated "hmph" that was very similar to the one Jackie had given, turning around and walking down the short hall that led to the living room. "Now hurry up and get on in here, the lot of you. And close my door before you let out all the warmth out!"

"Y-Yes ma'am!" Mason said with as much respect as he could, hurrying inside as quickly as he could, even brushing passed Jacking to get by into the house. Mason always had this respect toward authority figures of some kind, much to the trouble of Sammy who rolled her eyes at Mason's abrupt response before stepping in, though wasted no time grinning to Jackie, "Well even the grand witch Jackie has to listen to her elders, huh? Best do what she says, girl." Sammy just kept this grin on her face as if to try and get on Jackie's nerves before stepping in, leaving Jackie with closing the door as she and Mason both looked in, Sammy more casually with her hands in her pockets with Mason standing straight as a soldier, his head barely turning

"Further explanation of what?! There's nothing to explain!" Yoon said in denial. She tapped her thumbs lightly with one another. "I-It's not hiding knowledge--It's just protecting her!" Yoon defended her argument. "How do you think she would react if I told her a monster was chasing me?!"
